Assignment 18A: Create a Customer Avatar
My Customer Avatar
My customer avatar is a young women who is studying at the university. Like most of the students, she is riding the bicycle to university. She purchased that bike at a second hand shop, when moving to the city, where she is studying. It was cheaper than buying a new bike and she doesn’t feel bad when parking the bike outside of the flat. Unfortunately she has no other opportunity than parking it outside, because there is no space in the flat. She is riding the bike daily, also during the winter, because it is easier and faster to get to university. The busses take a lot more time and driving the car as well. Furthermore she can’t afford a car. She is annoyed by riding the bike during the winter because it is quite cold and it rains a lot. My customer avatar is afraid of getting ill then, although her immune system is quite good.
She tries to live a healthy lifestyle, eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and doing sports about three times a week. She loves to go out for a run to get her mind free and get rid of her cellulite. She also loves eating avocados, because they are really healthy and she read in a magazine that all healthy modern women are doing it. She is drinking a lot of tea during the day, to feel warm and comfortable, but also to protect herself as good as possible against bladder infections. That is why she prefers drinking cranberry tea, it should help to prevent it. My customer avatar already experienced a couple of bladder infections that is why she is quite careful with her body. During the exam period she is drinking a lot of coffee instead of tea to stay awake and concentrated. She brushes her teeth after every meal or after drinking coffee because she is afraid of getting bad teeth and she loves to smile.
When she needs a break from studying she loves to watch a movie with her flat mate. Most of the time they are watching romantic movies and drinking hot chocolate meanwhile. But sometimes when they are in a special mood they also watch action movies.
Furthermore she like to go out with friends. Most of the time she is riding the bike to the parties because it is faster even when it is cold, she does it. Then she and her friends have a few drinks, so when she is riding the bike back home later in the night she doesn’t realize the coldness or a wet bike seat.
My costumer avatar prefers a casual look but when going out she gets dressed up. Sometimes she doesn’t care about the weather conditions then, because it is more important for her to present a nice look. But normally she wears long ripped jeans because it is the current trend with a pair of boots and wool socks. But because she knows that it is really cold outside when riding the bike, she also wears a beanie, a scarf, gloves and a warm coat.
What do I have in common with the customer avatar?
There are a lot of similarities between the customer avatar and me. But I think there are even more similarities between the avatar and my flat mate. When creating the customer avatar I was thinking about what kind of characteristics could be helpful to sell my heated bike seat cover and the heated hand grips. I knew that students often have the problem with a cold seat, especially women. It was important that the customer avatar rides the bike daily and already had some issues with the health due to the cold weather. This leads me automatically to myself and my flat mate and as well to some other friends from my home university. So to be honest it was not really a coincidence that my customer avatar and I have a lot in common. Thinking about people who I know very well or thinking about myself made it easier to create the customer avatar, because I already knew their/ my needs and how to solve them – with help of the heated bicycle seat cover and heated hand grips.

ReplyDeleteThat is good that you are solving your own needs as well as others, because is there really such thing as an unselfish act? Solving your own problem with cold bicycle seats kills two birds with one stone because your fix your own problem while making money off other people who have the same problem.
