It is important to create a plan to get rid of the debts and improve the personal financial situation. There are several opportunities to reach this aim: monthly cost-cuttings, taking side jobs, swear off spending in certain goods or save money on interest by putting more money toward the balance with the highest rate. It is hard to make those steps but after paying off the first card it will become easier.
PROBLEMS: People have no other opportunities than run into debt because studying for example is quite expensive and the savings are not sufficient to cover the costs. Credit card companies often have hidden costs. It's hard to pay off high amounts of debt because it is difficult to waive something else.
PEOPLE: Students, mainly young people, people with relocations costs.

These are some very bad, yet solvable problems. Most of these occur on a daily basis making them very marketable oppertunities. Living in a college town, theres a lot of people who don't understand credit and are new to living on their own which brings a lot of problems and also opportunities.
ReplyDeleteAs a college student, I suffer from debt from student loans. I have a job that helps me pay for where I live, my food, car insurance, phone bill, and more. The thought of opening a credit card with all the debt I already possess is scary. Trying to pay off both a credit card bill while also paying off your loans seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteYour last article makes me think. If a child is having behavioral problems that involve their parent(s), then why isn’t the program for the child and the parent(s)? The word “discipline” is viewed very differently now than in the past. Today, parents rather have their children like them then punish them for their misbehavior. It is the parent(s) job to make sure that they shape their children into mature individuals. Some parents will not own up and take responsibility for neglecting their jobs as parents to correct their kids.
Hi Laura, you chose some really interesting articles. I think your article regarding programs for children with behavioral problems is applicable in so many realms, because each child (typically) needs a personalized support system. As a result, it may be difficult to take advantage of this opportunity, and if you could, it would be difficult to make the solution widespread. Further, even if there are already solutions there may not be a solution currently being implemented in your area.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed your article about sharing expenses between roommates. This is a huge problem, especially for college students. Although there are currently money-sharing apps, you are correct that an app that would help facilitate and organize roommates' payments would be extremely beneficial.
